Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of cardealexpert.com and any content, newsletters and features provided through it (together, the “Site”). The Site is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] of [REGISTERED ADDRESS] (“CDE”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
By accessing or using the Site you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. We may revise these Terms from time to time, and your continued use after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
Our content, copyright and intellectual property
All content on the Site, including articles, guides, headlines, photographs and graphics, page layouts, the Car Deal Expert name and branding, and the compilation of all of these, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of those rights to you.
What you may do (permitted use)
We want our work to be read and shared responsibly. You may:
- View and read the Site for your own personal, non-commercial use.
- Link to our articles and home page, provided you do so fairly, legally, and in a way that does not damage our reputation or imply an endorsement or association that does not exist.
- Quote a short, attributed extract from an article for the purposes of commentary, review or news reporting, with a clear credit and a link back to the original page.
What you may not do (prohibited use)
To protect our work and our readers, you must not:
- Copy, scrape, republish, redistribute, sell or commercially exploit any substantial part of the Site without our prior written permission.
- Use automated tools to harvest content, or use the Site or its content to train machine-learning or generative AI systems, without our prior written permission.
- Remove or alter any copyright, trade mark or other proprietary notices.
- Frame the Site, or pass off our content as your own.
- Introduce viruses or malicious code, attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, or interfere with its proper working or security.
- Use the Site in any way that is unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful, or that infringes the rights of others.
Important: our content is information, not regulated advice
Car Deal Expert provides general information and independent journalism about car buying, car finance, salary-sacrifice electric vehicles, warranty and insurance. This is the most important thing to understand about using the Site.
- Our content is general information and editorial opinion. It is not personal financial, tax, legal, insurance or mechanical advice, and it does not take account of your individual circumstances.
- CDE is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Nothing on the Site is a personal recommendation, a financial promotion made on behalf of a lender or insurer, or advice to enter into any particular finance agreement, insurance policy or purchase.
- Any figures, prices, APRs, monthly costs, Benefit-in-Kind rates, tax bands, salary-sacrifice savings and example calculations are illustrative only. They can change frequently and may not reflect the deal available to you.
- Before you act, you must confirm the current terms, eligibility, costs and cover directly with the relevant lender, insurer, dealer, manufacturer or an FCA-authorised adviser. Where appropriate, seek independent professional advice suited to your situation.
No warranties and “as is” basis
We work hard to keep the Site accurate and up to date, but the Site and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties or representations, express or implied, that the content is accurate, complete, current, fit for any particular purpose, or that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free. The motoring, finance, tax and insurance markets move quickly, and content that was correct when published may later be out of date.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any loss or damage, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or reliance on, the Site or its content. This includes any direct, indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or any financial decision you make based on our content.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
Third-party links and advertising
The Site contains links to third-party websites, including retailers, lenders, insurers, manufacturers and affiliate or advertising partners. We provide these links for convenience and information. We do not control those sites, are not responsible for their content, products or practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Some links are affiliate links from which we may earn a commission, as explained in our Affiliate Disclosure; this does not affect the price you pay or our editorial judgement. Any dealings you have with a third party are between you and that party.
User submissions and comments
If you send us a tip, correction, message, or post a comment where commenting is enabled, you confirm that your submission is your own, is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and does not infringe anyone’s rights or break the law. You must not submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, misleading, or that contains other people’s personal data without their permission.
You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, edit and publish your submission in connection with the Site and our journalism. We may moderate, edit or remove submissions and comments at our discretion, and we are not obliged to publish anything you send.
Changes to the Site and these Terms
We may change, suspend or withdraw all or part of the Site, and we may update these Terms, at any time. Where changes are material we will update the date below. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or your use of the Site, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, although if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
