Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Car Deal Expert is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of disability, device or assistive technology. We treat accessibility as a core part of good publishing, not an afterthought. We follow the principles of the Equality Act 2010 and use the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 as a best-practice benchmark, even though we are a private publisher and not legally bound by them. We are working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at level AA.

Measures we have taken

  • Pages are built with semantic HTML, landmarks, headings and lists so assistive technology can navigate them in a logical order.
  • Body text uses readable type, generous line spacing and a colour palette tested for contrast against WCAG 2.1 AA thresholds.
  • Informative images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative images are marked so screen readers can skip them.
  • Navigation, search and forms can be operated with a keyboard alone, and a skip-to-main-content link is provided.
  • The site is responsive and can be zoomed to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • We avoid auto-playing media. Video is hosted on platforms (such as YouTube) that support captions.
  • Specification tables, finance and Benefit-in-Kind calculators and comparison grids are designed to be readable with a screen reader.

Known limitations

We are an independent UK publisher with a small editorial team, and there are areas we know we can still improve. We are working on them on a rolling basis:

  • Some older articles imported from earlier versions of the site may contain images without full alternative text. We add it as we re-edit those pieces.
  • Some embedded third-party tools — such as price-comparison widgets and affiliate retailer links — carry their own accessibility characteristics that we cannot fully control. We choose partners with the best accessibility record available to us.
  • A small number of older comparison tables predate our current accessible-table approach. If you find one that is hard to use, please tell us and we will prioritise fixing it.

How to get help or report a problem

If you find any part of this site difficult to use, or you need information from us in a different format, please tell us. We treat accessibility feedback as a priority. Email [email protected] and, where you can, include the page address and a short description of the problem and the assistive technology or browser you are using. We aim to respond within five working days.

Enforcement

If you contact us with a complaint and are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) for England, Scotland and Wales, or the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI). We will engage constructively with any complaint and use it to improve the site.

Technical information and testing

This site uses semantic HTML5, ARIA where appropriate, and responsive CSS. We test accessibility using axe DevTools, Lighthouse accessibility audits and manual keyboard-only navigation, and we monitor Core Web Vitals and page-speed scores as part of our ongoing engineering work. Accessibility is a continuing effort rather than a one-off project, and we review our approach regularly.
